Introduction

Conflip ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Conflip mobile application (the "App") available on iOS, Android, and Web platforms. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

Conflip is a real-time group decision-making application that allows users to create rooms, add options, and vote by swiping to find the group's top pick.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

Nickname: A display name you choose (up to 20 characters) when using the App. This is not your real name unless you choose to use it.
Avatar: An emoji avatar you select from predefined options.
Room Options: Text content you contribute as voting options within rooms (up to 100 characters each).

Information Collected Automatically

Device Identifier: A unique identifier generated for your device using Firebase Anonymous Authentication. This is not linked to your personal identity.
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, app version, and platform (iOS, Android, or Web).
System Language: Your device's language setting, used to display the App in Turkish or English.
Usage Data: Interactions within the App such as creating rooms, joining rooms, completing votes, viewing results, using templates, changing themes, and changing language settings.
Crash and Error Data: Stack traces, error messages, device information, and session data when the App encounters errors (collected via Firebase Crashlytics; not collected on Web).
FCM Token: A Firebase Cloud Messaging token for your device, used solely to deliver push notifications about room results.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Real names, email addresses, phone numbers, or postal addresses
Photos, camera, or microphone data
Location or GPS data
Contacts or address book data
Passwords or login credentials (the App uses anonymous authentication only)
Financial or payment information (all purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store)

Third-Party Services

Google Firebase

Firebase Authentication: Provides anonymous authentication. Generates a unique user ID without requiring personal information.
Cloud Firestore: Stores room data, participant nicknames, avatars, voting options, and results in real-time.
Firebase Analytics: Collects usage events, session data, device properties, and app version information to help us understand how the App is used.
Firebase Crashlytics: Collects crash reports including stack traces, device information, and error details to help us identify and fix bugs (not active on Web).
Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Delivers push notifications to inform participants when room results are ready.

Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements to free (non-premium) users. AdMob may collect device advertising identifier, device information, app interaction data, and ad impression/click data. AdMob may use this data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. Premium subscribers do not see any advertisements.

Apple App Store / Google Play Store

In-app purchases (premium upgrade) are processed entirely by Apple or Google. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information, credit card details, or billing address. We only receive confirmation of whether a purchase was completed.

Google Fonts

The App uses the Inter typeface loaded from Google Fonts CDN. Google may collect standard web request data (IP address, user agent) when fonts are loaded.

Advertising

The App displays the following types of advertisements to free users:

Banner Ads: Displayed on the result screen
Interstitial Ads: Displayed every 3rd game
Rewarded Ads: Optional ads users can watch to unlock the undo feature

Premium subscribers do not see any advertisements. You can remove all ads by subscribing to premium ($0.99/month) from within the App.

Ad Personalization

Google AdMob may use device identifiers and usage data to personalize advertisements. On iOS, ad tracking follows Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. On Android, you can opt out of personalized ads through your device's Google Settings.

Security Measures

All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS 1.2+).
Firestore data at rest is encrypted by Google.
Room access is restricted to authenticated users through Firebase Security Rules.

A scheduled Cloud Function runs daily at 3:00 AM UTC to automatically delete all rooms older than 24 hours.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Your information may be shared in the following limited circumstances:

With Room Participants: Your nickname and avatar are visible to other participants in rooms you join.
With Google/Firebase: As described in the Third-Party Services section.
Via Share Feature: The room code and/or winning option text is shared through your device's native share sheet.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. Since the App uses anonymous authentication and does not require any personal information, the risk of inadvertent collection is minimal.

Your Rights

For Users in the European Economic Area (GDPR)

Access: Request information about what data we hold about you.
Rectification: Update your nickname and avatar at any time.
Erasure: Delete your local data by clearing app storage. Server-side data is automatically deleted within 24 hours.
Objection: Opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings.

For Users in California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

For Users in Turkey (KVKK)

Change your nickname and avatar at any time.

Delete all local app data by uninstalling the App.
Purchase premium to remove all advertisements.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website and updating the "Last updated" date.
